Focused Content Marketing

Interview 2 Highlights

March 20, 2013 – What is Content Marketing? More than just disseminating information, a content marketing strategy is about purposefully creating and distributing relevant and valuable content to attract, acquire and engage a clearly-defined target market, with the objective of driving profitable customer action. Martin van der Roest of the Examiner talks with Jon Wuebben of Content Launch, going deeper into the practices of a focused content marketing strategy that Jon uses with his clients.

Jon believes: “If you embrace content marketing, you will no long see yourself as a seller of products and services but a publisher of information for your industry, and you want to become a resource hub for a bunch of people.” Doing that successfully involves Strategy and Planning, Content Creation, Marketing and Distribution, and Management and Curation, establishing a cycle that repeats continuously. Setting goals, planning strategy and creating valuable content in various forms (videos, images, podcasts, whitepapers), and publishing and promoting your content across all your social media channels will engage your target audiences for maximum result in driving behavior.

Key Take Aways

  • Content marketing is a strategy to attract, acquire and engage a specific targeted audience
  • Social media is a way to automate and leverage your content, not a strategy in itself
  • You become a publisher of information, not just a seller
  • Content marketing is an investment that will grow over time, a long-term initiative
